How to Change or Activate a SIM Card with TELUS

Update Your My TELUS Profile with Your New SIM Number

If you are replacing your current SIM card, make sure to update your profile with the new SIM number before setting it up in your device. Follow these steps:
 

  1. Log in or Register to My TELUS.

  2. Go to the Plans & Devices tab.
  3. Select the subscriber who will be swapping their SIM card.
  4. Click on the Device tab.
  5. Select Swap Your SIM card and follow the instructions on the page.
     

Once you have linked your phone number to the new SIM or eSIM, you can proceed to set it up in your device by following the steps below.

Set Up Your SIM Card

  1. Turn off your device.

  2. Locate the SIM card slot and insert your SIM card (refer to the manufacturer's guide for help).
  3. Turn on your device and let the activation process complete.

 

Set Up Your eSIM

For Apple Users with Eligible Devices: If you are using Apple’s eSIM Quick Transfer feature, you can find more information at telus.com/eSIM.

 

Activating an eSIM QR Voucher During Initial Device Set-up:

  1. Power on your new device and follow the on-screen instructions.

  2. If prompted, select the option to Set up without a SIM card.
  3. Connect to Wi-Fi (eSIM download will fail if you are not connected to Wi-Fi).
  4. Scan the QR code from your TELUS eSIM voucher using your phone camera and follow the on-screen prompts.
 

Activating an eSIM QR Voucher After Initial Device Set-up is Completed:

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi (eSIM download will fail if you are not connected to Wi-Fi).

  2. In your device's Settings, navigate to the tab that manages cellular connections. This will be named something such as Cellular, Mobile DataNetwork, or Connections depending on the operating system.
  3. For Apple devices, tap Set Up Cellular or Add eSIM. For Android devices, tap SIMs or SIM card manager, then select Add.
  4. Follow the prompts until you are given the option to scan a QR code with your device's camera, or enter the details manually.
